Empty Bowls Fundraiser

Today our family went to our local food bank's Empty Bowls fundraiser. What a great concept! Local artists made and donated their homemade pottery bowls which were displayed on tables when you entered the venue.

In exchange for your purchased ticket you pick out and take home a bowl. But not until after you go into the event and enjoy samples of warm, delicious soup donated by the area's best restaurants. In all, over $20,000 was raised in this one afternoon!

As soon as I got home I washed and dried my new bowls and used them for dinner. They're perfect!

Do you have a local Food Bank? What can you do to support them? If this isn't the season of your life where you can contribute financially - or even with your time, consider sending them a kind note telling them you appreciate the work the volunteers do for the community.
