From Strength to Strength

Personal study for today:

"Strength to strength" contains the idea of progress.

They grow stronger and stronger.

Think of how when you go for a vigorous hike in the woods. You start off strong, with lots of energy. The way winds up a hill. The sun grows warm. You grow weary and need rest before starting on your way again.

You go from strength to weakness.

As Christians, though, we pilgrim through life - but instead with a fresh supply of grace every day refreshing us - even after years of toilsome travel.

“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

We shouldn't fret about the future.

We might go from affliction to affliction, but remember that we also go from strength to strength. Because we will never find affliction without an abundance of sufficient grace.
